| Admission requirements |
A Bachelor's degree in music or an equivalent degree awarded by a university in Germany or abroad. In exceptional cases, proof of a bachelor's degree in music can be accepted as admission requirement. Successful completion of an aptitude test Good command of English Candidates applying for the aptitude test, who have neither a German general qualification for university entrance nor a degree / graduation in a German speaking course of studies have to prove sufficient knowledge of the German language (comparable with level A1-GERR). This can be proven either through submission of appropriate test certificates or through a conversation with the Board of Examiners during the aptitude test. If necessary, the Board of Examiners advices to take part in study-integrated German classes according to the respective language skills. |

| Program objective | The Master's degree program is an artistic degree program that builds on an initial professional university degree and leads to an additional academic qualification for a future career. It is designed to provide participants with in-depth, specialized musical/artistic and academic insights and skills, which are essential for a career as an opera or concert singer. |

The degree program encompasses two compulsory modules: Artistic training I Artistic training II This is supplemented through one of the available elective compulsory modules: - Concert - Opera - Opera and concert (For more information see the annex of the Examination regulations relating to the respective course of studies and the module handbook respectively.) |
| Master's examination |
The practical-artistic Master’s examination takes approx. 60 Minutes (including a break of 10 minutes) The public concert can be replaced by an opera or oratorio performance, authorized by the examination committee, in which the applicant has to sing a main part, or an evening of songs to be performed in the Rhine-Mine area. Preparative to the practical-artistic final examination, there has to be created a detailed introduction to the concert program |
Requirements for the aptitude test
On registering for the aptitude test for the Master's degree program, a repertoire list is to be submitted from which the candidates themselves will select the first piece for the qualifying exam. The remainder of the pieces will be selected by the examination committee.
Repertoire list: Concert focus
- Four oratorio arias, including one by J. S. Bach or G. F. Handel and one aria by J. Haydn or W. A. Mozart
- Two operatic arias (in the original language)
- Eight lieder, including one by F. Schubert, one by H. Wolf, and one contemporary lied
Repertoire list: Opera focus
- Five operatic arias (in the original language; the repertoire should cover at least three different languages)
- Two oratory arias, one by J. S. Bach or G. F. Handel
- Two lieder, one by F. Schubert
