According to the Higher Education Act (§ 2 (2)), universities are to enforce gender equality and abolish any inequalities or gender-based disadvantages. In this context, the designee for gender equality of the Mainz School of Music manages analogous tasks to the designee for gender equality of the JGU senate. Among those tasks are the conseling of female students, teachers and other staff, consulting the council and the committees of the school of music and the initiation and implementation of other measures and projects that support gender equality.
Furthermore the designee for gender equality acts as the contact person in cases of sexual harassment and offers advice on the compatibility of family and studies or work.
