International Affairs

A special feature of the School of Music and of Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (JGU) as a whole is its international orientation. Bearing testament to this is the fact that the university has one of the highest proportions of foreign students in Germany and has contacts with over 300 other universities and educational institutions across the world. The international activities of the university are coordinated and managed by the International Office. To mark particularly praiseworthy services and achievements in the exchange of German and foreign ERASMUS students and lecturers, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) awarded JGU the European SOCRATES Quality Seal in 2004.

In the university's International Preparatory and Language Center (ISSK), both German and foreign students at the School of Music can acquire the language skills necessary to take part in international programs.

Within the scope of the ERASMUS program in particular, the Mainz School of Music maintains relations with many partner universities in, amongst other countries, Denmark, Sweden, Italy, Poland, Greece, Austria, Switzerland, and the Netherlands.
